Whilst studying at the George Eastman House in the late 1990’s Josie took to the Daguerreotype process. Using the mercurial process she documented her favoured pastime – fishing. Originally from Germany she resides in Rochester NY and now has a gallery page at cdags.org.

Back in the 1970’s Walter Johnson taught historic photographic processes including the Daguerreotype through the Ohio State University. In the class room he took on the persona of Professor Simon Alexander Wooley to enliven the tuition. Accompanying the images of his teachings (in the workshops section of the technology galleries) is a written account that has been added to the general writing section of the Resources page.

Hailing from the Washington DC area, Larry has been working with the Becquerel process on and off for the last 5 years. A long time poster in the dagforum his progress can now be seen in his new gallery, the 35th artist gallery added to this site.

This just in… some very nice coverage of the new Linda Benedict-Jones curated show “Digital to Daguerreotype” at the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh, PA, USA. The show, which examines the history of photography, includes seventy images, among them Jerry Spagnoli’s unique daguerreotype of the inauguration of President Obama. The article includes some additional background about Jerry’s experience in making this historical work. The show continues through January 31st at the Carnegie.

A group post mortem has been added to Mike’s gallery, the plate is a new format to the scene (4.25 x 8.5 inches) and is housed in a rectilinear passe partout.
