I haven’t bought plates in a few years. I’ve been helping Bing shophere in the U.S. Daniel Smith has phased out their printmaking supplies. I went to Blick in Chicago today and the plates (supplied by K&S in Chicago) do not have a mirror finish (and they seem to be overpriced.) Does anyone else have a source for copper?

Yes, I heard about these from Jerry S. who has a great story about the Baseball Daguerreotypes, which are not daguerreotypes at all. I’ll let him tell you his story.

Saw this big dag in London about 4 years ago (attached). Never seen one bigger (DB not with standing). Found 5×7’s much more difficult than 4×5’s which are somewhat more difficult than 3X4’s.

You can call Coult at Reliable Plating in Chicago, 5 day turnover, good work for me over the years, lots of daguerreotypists use Reliable. They will be doing some for me next week at their new facilities (they had a fire a few years ago and rebuilt.
