Hi All
I am a retired teacher in the UK. I have been taking photographs for over 35 years and tried all sorts of processes, I completed an MFA in Photography with Ulster University two years ago. I am settling on Wet Plate, Daguerreotypy and Photogravure. I have previously made a daguerreotype using the Bequerel method and am now getting set up for Mercury development. I have the Iodine and Bromine and am looking for Mercury. I wonder how much mercury do I actually need (guessing not much!) I bought an old Sphygmomanometer which still has its mercury, is this likely to be enough? I am making a fuming box with acrylic sheet and steel threaded cap probably bonded to the acrylic with epoxy. Is anyone from the UK who knows where to obtain mercury or maybe has a little to sell me?
Anyway, great website … an incredible resource and I am looking forward to contributing in the future
