Hi Eolo, There is a vast amount of information on this forum to assist you in making a sensitizing box, and how to make the base silver plated copper. I do sell our 1/4 plate size copper plates electroplated with silver ready to be polished and sensitized. Price is $40US each plus shipping. You can send an email to chad@primalphotographic.com if interested.

I have always been so careful to quickly get the plate under glass over fear of damaging or adding particals of dust. I will give it a try, I often wondered how some of the dags on here were scanned, as I can see the pilot holes for electoplating and assumed it was just very clean glass. Chad

    Newone,

I use a very inexpensive scanner, Epson Perfection 3590 Photo Scanner. I bought it several years ago for 99.00 US. All my dags are mounted under glass as soon as I finish gilding, I use cheap glass so there are alot of scratches and imperfections that get picked up in the scan. I do photoshop those spots as best I can but keep the real imperfections and contrast as close as possible in the digitized image. You just have to find a scanner that scans at an angle to reduce the reflection.

PS – I really have enjoyed watching your progress on the forum!

Thanks Greg for the super quick reply! It has not been mixed with the thiosulfate so I will be giving it a shot here in the coming days.
