Hi All. I’ve a request. We’d like to add a new feature for The Daguerreian Society newsletter. We’re thinking a “Contemporary Corner”. In it we’d like to feature three of four of recent works. Interest is building and we’d like to get you front and center. If you have a few, please send them to Diane Filippi at Society HQ. She’ll have them saved and ready to go. It might not be for an issue of two forward, as pre & post symposium news might fill . But we’ll see. We’d love a few words on you image as well (if you wish). If you send writing, Diane has some issues with “.doc” Send words in “.doc” and not “.docx”. If there is an issue we can contact you later. Also, if the image is available for purchase, we could add in a way to contact you (if you wish)????… see what happens! So please forward a few!
I have a second thought. I think it a decent idea to perhaps create a database of as many contemporary dags as we can. Within the Society. We’d only use for Society needs, and of course any possible publication only with later permissions. My “day dream” here is that with a database, I though perhaps of loading many onto a good Digital Photo Frame. That Photo Frame is easily portable and we could send it anytime to appropriate photo gatherings, for viewing. Get’s the Society name out, as well as your work. My ultimate day dream would be if one of our dealers, who shows at the AIPAD Show in NYC, to have it on view at a table there. But that might take some “cajoling”. It’s their big selling show. But who knows.
Don’t send tons of scans to Diane for this just yet. I was thinking that those that wish to place images in a Society Contemporary Database, we can do that work at the Symposium. Just fill up a flash drive and bring it. I will have a portable hard drive there to load all of them up for Diane to take back with her. With that, we all just have to come up with ways how to show your works. All ideas welcome, but a database is the start?
Thanks in advance for all your help! I look forward to future newsletters – with the “Contemporary Corner” !
