How thick is the jlar, surely coming over on to the glass would be better as you then are protecting that flap with your brass matts. The edge on the glass may be a bit vunerable but should be okay. Dont forget to try the hot glue gun as discussed on the wet night in London.

The plate, mat, and glass. What do you use to seal them and how do you do it?

I have tried J-LAR, Filmoplast P90, Lineco Frame Sealing tape, and even Filmoplast T. My favorite so far is the frame sealing tape because it is a solid chemical barrier. The frame sealing tape has an aluminum backer which helps to create a nice vapor barrier but it has its problems.

My biggest problem is getting the tape to stay attached to the edge of the glass. Because the framing tape is opaque I can’t wrap the tape around over the top like I can with the J-LAR. I’m not even that crazy about going over the top of the glass with the J-LAR though. If I had package preservers then it would be a different story… anyone know where I can find some or how to make them?
