Hello there,
It was about to time for me to start practicing some gold gilding, so I did. I read and re-read the “how-to” about ten times and practice with water in useless plates before attempting. I had a very annoying three-legged ring stand, an alcohol lamp, hair pliers (or whatever is called), trays, distilled water and a shaky hand.
The first attempt ended up resembling a Munch’s oil painting. The second and last attempt seemed much better, meaning, I didn’t ruin the image. One thing is what you read and the other is what you do. My question is: does anyone have a video/picture of the process? I searched but to no avail. It would be interesting to see the plate evolution during gilding.
In any case, I attach the non-gilded vs- gilded trials for everyone to scorn.
Cheers,
Javi
