Fully Functional Half Plate Daguerreotype Camera with Early Petzval Edward Anthony Brass Lens

Offered today is a very high quality, fully operational brand new Daguerreotype camera built by R.R. Morgenweck of the Star Camera Company (the World’s only full time maker of Wet Plate and Daguerreotype Cameras). This beautiful example is Number 144 in their ongoing construction and measures 11×10.

This Camera is in Half Plate format, and can take Daguerreotypes, tintypes, ambrotypes and collodion negatives in half plate, quarter plate and sixth plate formats. Built from figured Black Walnut, it features an outstanding and very Rare Edward Anthony half plate wet plate era (genuine period) brass lens in excellent condition, factory slotted for waterhouse stops. The Anthony lens provides exceptional definition and are among the finest ever made. This is a Petzval Portrait lens, used by many Collodion photographers then and now.

The style of this camera dates from the early to mid 1850’s, and spanned the era from Daguerreotypes to wet plates. Indeed, with no modification this camera can make images in either medium. If you are a historic photographer or just a collector, this high quality piece is the perfect camera for you.

While the camera is being sold as a user, it will also form the centerpiece of any collection of early photographic equipment. Star Cameras hold their value exceptionally well and regularly sell without lenses for over $1,000. Given the inclusion of its rare and genuine Edward Anthony brass Petzval portrait lens, I am asking asking $1395 + postage.
