Hello
Can anyone tell me how to make fixer solution for removing the unexposed silver iodide from the Daguerreotype?
Do I need only sodium thiosaulfate or should I add sodium sulfite to the solution.
How many grams do I have to add to 500 ml of water?
Thank you!
Hello dafna,
The wiki lists a 1 L fixer solution which uses 15 grams Sodium Thiosulfate and 15 grams Sodium Sulfite. For 500 mL, just half the amounts: 7.5 grams each Sodium Thiosulfate and Sodium Sulfite.

I only use sodium thiosaulfate ,it works well.I’d like to know why others use Sodium Sulfite too.How sodium sulfite works?
Thank you Jon Lewis, I will try that.
