Hi all-
Hopefully many of you saw the post about this years F295 conference by Alan on the cdags home page. I thought I’d follow up on it with a bit more information. I hope this is the correct place in the forum to post this, if not pardon my error…
F295 is the only event of its kind which exclusively features photographers/artists talking about their work and the thoughts, ideas, and rationale behind it. Nearly all of our speakers utilize at least one form of historic process in their work. In years past we’ve featured over 39 unique lectures and workshops including ones by both Mike Robinson and Jerry Spagnoli. Jerry will be teaching a workshop here again this year.
We’ve also featured a number of other prominent and well known speakers including:
Jo Babcock
Craig Barber
Michelle Bates
Laura Blacklow
Martha Casanave
Jill Enfield
Dan Estabrook
Jesseca Ferguson
Alida Fish
Joy Goldkind
James Hajicek
Robert Hirsch
Robb Kendrick
Martha Madigan
Scot McMahon
Elizabeth Opalenik
France Scully Osterman
Mark Osterman
Carol Panaro Smith
Keith Taylor
Ilan Wolff
The event takes place June 2-5, 2011 in Pittsburgh PA. The event begins Thursday evening with our portfolio sharing event, focused industry trade show, and opening night artist talk. The portfolio sharing event is a great way to see and discuss the work of yourself and others in a relaxed and casual atmosphere. The way it works is that we fill a ballroom with 8′ tables and you’re encouraged and welcome to spread your work out for others to view – people walk around and chat, ask questions, etc. We’ve even had people sell work at the event! Friday holds a full day of lectures. Both Thursday and Friday take place on the campus of Carnegie Mellon University. Saturday and Sunday hold the workshops at Pittsburgh Filmmakers.
We’d really like to have a group of contemporary daguerreotypists join us for this years conference. So, to help make that happen F295 has partnered with the people at cdags to offer registered cdag forum participants the opportunity to sign-up for the symposium at the discounted F295 member rate. The rate will soon be increasing so if you’re thinking about coming sign up as soon as possible.
We’ve secured a block of rooms at the Holiday Inn University Center which is within easy walking distance to the symposium, has a great on-site pub/restaurant, and with the F295 conference code has free parking. Room rates are based on 1-4 people sharing a room, so it can be relatively inexpensive. More Information is on the website: http://www.f295.org/2011
Thanks and I hope to see you in Pittsburgh!
Best,
Tom
