I created this forum because I saw a need to have a single place where daguerreotypists could come, discuss the art, and help each other out. I had also planned on having a gallery, artist links, suppliers, etc. with information gathered from the web and extracted from the forum. I am personally in the learning stage and this sort of resource is invaluable.

Yesterday I learned that the talented Alan Bekhuis of http://www.casedimage.com noticed the same need and had been working on a similar site: http://www.contemporarydaguerreotypes.info.

I am very pleased to say that we have now teamed up and will be sharing the responsibility of maintaining this very promising and needed daguerrian resource. I will host the forum and he will host the images, links, and other information which will form the knowledge base. I have created links at the top of this forum that go to his site and galleries and his forum links will come here. Check out his site and let him know if there are any images or link you’d like to add.

These two complementary sites are here to serve the daguerreian community so please let us know if there is anything you’d like to see. I look forward to working with Alan watching this resource grow and expand!

Its exciting to see a place come together that can show case our Daguerreian interests. With the galleries section I would really to have a individual gallery for everyone making contemporary daguereotypes. If this sounds good to forum members, send me you images and what information about yourself you’d like to see there.
